BECOME A PRACTICAL PLACEMENT PARTNER

Our flyer gives you an overview of the dual study programme.

The Department of Applied Computer Science offers the following dual study programmes:

The overview of the dual study programmes is the Central University Administration's point of contact for prospective students.

In the dual study programmes, study phases at the university are transferred to practical placements in the enterprise. Theory and practice are closely interlinked so that theoretical knowledge can be used immediately in a practical company context.

The dual Bachelor's programme comprises six semesters, the dual Master's degree four semesters. After successfully completing the respective study programme, students are awarded the degree "Bachelor of Science" or "Master of Science".

HOW TO BECOME A PRACTICAL PLACEMENT PARTNER

Step 1Contact the Fulda University of Applied Sciences to determine the aptitude as a placement provider.
Step 2Sign a cooperation agreement with the Fulda University of Applied Sciences.
3rd stepStudents can then be recruited and learning agreements concluded. The university provides a sample contract for this purpose.

MODEL

The dual study programme is used as a study programme variant. This means that dual students complete their university studies together with full-time students and attend the same modules. However, some courses take the form of so-called practical modules. The university provides a theoretical introduction to the content. These are transferred to practical projects in the enterprise in order to support the theory-practice transfer and increase relevance.

FAQ FOR PRACTICAL PLACEMENT PARTNERS

The following conditions should be met in order to become a practical placement partner in the dual study programme in applied computer science:

  • Specialist reference: The enterprise should have computer science tasks of a relevant scope so that it also makes sense in terms of content to train a dual student for applied computer science in the enterprise.
  • Specialist support: Qualified specialist support must be guaranteed to accompany the dual students and liaise with the university. An academic background is recommended to enable the best possible supervision of the practical modules and during the Bachelor's thesis.
  • Workstation: equipped workstation during the practical placements and, if necessary, on the practical day
  • Remuneration: Planning of funds for the remuneration of the students and the company contribution to the university
  • Cooperation with the university: Each practical placement partner can delegate one person to the practical advisory board, which meets at least once a year.

For each student, the university charges a contribution of 2,300 euros for the entire Bachelor's programme (payable in the 1st and 3rd semesters, 1,150 euros each). In the Master's programme, the costs amount to 2,000 euros. The practical placement partners receive an invoice for this in the respective semesters.

In addition to this, the dual student receives a monthly training allowance. As a guideline for the Bachelor's degree, you can look at the current BAföG grant maximum rate. This is currently 934 euros (as of 2023). The remuneration for Master's students is correspondingly higher. Most enterprises also agree on a sliding scale according to academic year, so that the amount increases each year.

There are also costs for the students themselves. They have to pay a fee of around 300 euros per semester for re-enrolment at the university. This includes the so-called semester ticket, which allows you to use regional transport throughout Hesse free of charge. However, this is not a special feature for dual students, but is common for all students. Some enterprises refund the semester fee to students.

In addition to the usual online platforms in the region, a number of schools, particularly professional schools, have a careers portal for training and dual study programmes:

Ferdinand-Braun-Schule, Fulda: Careers portal

Richard-Müller-Schule, Fulda: Careers portal

Konrad-Zuse-Schule, Hünfeld: Job portal

In addition, you can also post your job free of charge on the Federal Employment Agency's job market at: "Stellenmeldung online".

You can find the semester timetable here.

For organisational reasons, this day is specified by the university and may change from semester to semester.

During the study phase, there will be no direct attendance control and reporting to the enterprise if students are not present.
