Tool-supported design of motion-based human-computer interactions.
WeBewIn stands for the test prototype of an innovative software tool for rapid prototyping of touchless/3D gesture interaction. The project results strengthen user participation in the early development phases and support the creation and evaluation of gesture-based user interfaces. WeBewIn makes it possible to quickly create gestures and test them together with drafts of interactive applications.
One of the central functions is that gestures can be defined by demonstrating the desired gesture once (by-demonstration concept). The interactions are mapped and evaluated on the one hand with executable dialogue models and on the other hand by linking them to prototypes of interactive applications. All functions are designed for rapid prototyping and early testing of gesture interaction with potential users. The various test modalities support the creation of gestures that are validated according to various criteria, such as ergonomics and user experience (UX).
An initial evaluation took place with designers from the field. Based on the knowledge gained in the project, the development of a product prototype of the tool was estimated in terms of the required resources, planned and implemented in a third-party funding application for a larger, multi-year third-party funded project ("ProGesture - Tool Support for Rapid Prototyping of 3D-Gesture Interaction").
