Campus day of the AI department at Fulda University of Applied Sciences: Information day for students
With a diverse mix of presentations, Guided Tours and interactive activities, the information day attracted numerous school classes from vocational high schools in Fulda and the region, including the Kinzig School from Schlüchtern, the vocational school centre in Bad Hersfeld and the Ferdinand Braun School in Fulda. Individual interested parties from other educational institutions and the world of work also took the opportunity to find out more about university studies in computer science and the technical opportunities at the university.
Varied program: Info café, laboratory tours and presentations
The "Technology and Computer Science" campus day offered an extensive program with numerous attractions from 10 am to 1 pm. In the Info Café, visitors were not only able to obtain information material, but also learn about exciting student projects. The exhibition comprised topics such as editorial and communication design, virtual reality gaming, audio and video production as well as 3D prints presented by the creative workshop"Makerspace".
The coffee, popcorn and sweets counter catered for visitors' physical well-being.
The guided tours of the department's premises were particularly popular. These included insights into the TV studio and the RobLab, two of the university's modern laboratories. The laboratory projects presented there by students and laboratory engineers provided guests with insights related to practice into current research and technical developments.
Mini lectures met with great interest
Another highlight of the campus day were the three mini-lectures on current topics in computer science and digitisation. Dr Milde's presentation "AI & digital media - all fake here, or what?" drew a large audience. captivated the audience. The students filled the room to capacity and praised the interactive design of the lecture afterwards. Dr Ketterer's lecture on the "Digitisation of business processes" and Dr Zohner's lecture on "IT security: authentication procedures" were also met with great interest.
Positive response and specific study interests
In total, the Campus Day attracted around 80 to 100 visitors. The consistently positive response was reflected not only in the lively attendance at the various programme items, but also in the discussions on site. Many students took the opportunity to exchange ideas with students and find out more first-hand about everyday life at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. It was particularly pleasing that some of the visitors already expressed a concrete intention to enrol for university studies at Fulda University of Applied Sciences.

The smooth organisation, the wide range of information on offer and the high demand from visitors made the day a complete success. The Department of Applied Computer Science was once again able to show that it not only impresses with its innovative teaching and research approaches, but is also able to inspire potential students for the world of computer science.
