Her academic career at the department began with the Bachelor's programme in‘digital media’. Ms Roth then continued her success story with a Master’s degree in applied computer science. At the same time, she worked as a tutor.
Unusual circumstances also arose during her doctoral degree following the loss of her supervisor, Prof. Dr Tim Süß, for whom she stepped in at short notice. Alongside writing her doctoral thesis, she took over his 1. lectures, organised 1. examinations and became a reliable point of contact for students in the ‘High Performance Computing’ department.
Supervision during the final phase of her dissertation was taken over by Prof. Dr Jonas Posner, who himself had only recently taken up his professorship in Fulda. Speaking about Dr Roth, he says: “She teaches, contributes to courses and helps me enormously to settle into a new environment. And she did all this whilst publishing papers, attending conferences, giving presentations and completing her dissertation. Not exactly an easy path.”
During her doctoral degree, Anna-Lena Roth published seven papers, including one that was awardedthe ‘Best Presentation Award’by the PARS specialist group of the German Computer Science Society (GI).
Special thanks go to the supervisors, evaluators and members of the examination committee: Prof. Dr Birgit Bomsdorf (examination committee, Fulda University of Applied Sciences), Prof. Dr Jonas Posner (supervisor, Fulda University of Applied Sciences), Prof. Dr Alexander Gepperth (supervisor, Fulda University of Applied Sciences), Prof. Dr Lena Oden (evaluator, Hagen Distance Learning University), Prof. Dr Sebastian Rieger (evaluator, Fulda University of Applied Sciences), Prof. Dr Jörg Kreiker (examination committee, Fulda University of Applied Sciences).
Supervisors Dr Jonas Posner and Dr Alexander Gepperth could not be prouder and are delighted that Anna-Lena Roth will be staying on with the department as a postdoctoral researcher.
Congratulations from the entire Department of Applied Computer Science at Fulda University of Applied Sciences!
