A new era of educational cooperation

The start of a university seminar on IT security at the premises of Bildungspartner Main-Kinzig in Gelnhausen marks the beginning of "a new phase in regional educational cooperation", explains district councillor Jannik Marquart. Fulda University of Applied Sciences is offering a block course on basic IT protection and business continuity management at this location for the first time. Marquart emphasises that this step will provide significant impetus in terms of education policy as well as business and administration.

Reception of the participants

Around 30 students were welcomed at the start of the seminar. In addition to Marquart, BiP Managing Director Dirk Niedoba, Gelnhausen's Mayor Christian Litzinger, Professor Dr Michael Zohner and the specialist lecturers Jörg Deusinger and Niklas Veith from the company de-bit spoke at the event. The topic of IT and data security is becoming increasingly important in the face of growing digital threats. Companies and public institutions are increasingly hiring qualified specialists who can recognise technical risks and take appropriate protective measures. The seminar addresses this need by providing students with in-depth knowledge in an essential specialist area.

Contents and goals

As part of the programme, students have the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge in the areas of IT baseline protection and business continuity management (BCM). In addition to in-depth insights into current security standards and methods for safeguarding business processes, the programme offers targeted preparation for real-life requirements in IT security and crisis management practice. At the end of the course, students have the opportunity to receive two recognised certificates, "IT-Grundschutz-Praktiker" and "BCM-Praktiker", which document their qualifications and strengthen their chances on the job market in the long term.
