Dean Prof Dr Christian Fischer bids farewell to the 2026 graduates
Welcome by the dean
The evening was managed by a cheerful ceremony. Dean Prof Dr Christian Fischer welcomed the graduates and their companions and congratulated them on their degrees.
Impulses on AI, loneliness and campus life
Vice-President for Learning and Teaching and Digitisation, Prof. Dr Jörg Kreiker, also took part in the ceremony. In his speech, he addressed challenges that students are currently facing - including the increasing presence of AI technologies. He also addressed the issue of "loneliness" in times of increasing digital networking.
At the same time, he emphasised the strengths of studying on campus: experiencing community, networking, becoming part of a community and actively shaping campus life. It is equally important to encounter different opinions, to endure them and to grow from them.
Greetings from the field: collaboration with dual partners
Patrick Weppler from General Logistics Systems Germany GmbH & Co. OHG was also among the guests. As a representative of the dual practical placement partners, he offered his congratulations and emphasised the successful collaboration with the department. He made it clear that the partners are looking forward to many more years of cooperation.
Graduates look back - and forward
Sabrina Siber and Jochen Vogt, both graduates of the Bachelor's programme in Digital Media, gave entertaining speeches. They recalled anecdotes from their time as students and looked back on challenging phases during the pandemic. They also emphasised the advantages of studying on campus and spoke about the rapid development of new AI technologies and their influence on the future. As a degree, they thanked the department's teaching staff and employees for their support during their university studies.
Ewald Vollmer Prize for outstanding social services: benefits
A special highlight was the award of the Ewald Vollmer Prize. Matthias Moser honoured the most outstanding graduates on behalf of the Ewald Vollmer Foundation:
- Jan-Niklas Witzel (B.Sc. Applied Computer Science)
- Lorenz Hohmann (M.Sc. Applied Computer Science)
- Lucas Nickel (M.Sc. Applied Computer Science)
- Nick Stolbov (M.Sc. Applied Computer Science)
Presentation of certificates and cosy finale
After a short break with musical maintenance by the band "Sunny Vibes", Dean Prof Dr Christian Fischer and Prof Dr Cathrin Möller presented the graduation certificates. This was combined with encouraging words for the graduates' future path.
Afterwards, the evening ended in a relaxed atmosphere: The guests rounded off the celebration with small delicacies from the buffet, good conversation and a get-together.
