Our flyer gives you an overview of the dual study programme. The dual study programme is used as a study programme variant. This means that you complete your university studies together with full-time students and attend the same modules. However, some courses take the form of practical modules. The university will provide a theoretical introduction to the content. These are transferred to practical projects in the enterprise in order to support the theory-practice transfer and increase relevance.

Programme structure with practical day in the enterprise (see graphic) or without practical day in the enterprise.
The dual study programme at the Department of Applied Computer Science comprises 6 semesters (B.Sc.)/ 4 semesters (M.Sc.) and is structured in such a way that periods at the university and at the practical placement partner take place in transfer:
| Lecture period | 4 days of university studies at the Fulda University of Applied Sciences possibly 1 practical day at the practical placement partner*. |
| Examination period | Practical placement days at the practical placement partner Time off for examination days |
| Lecture-free period | Practical placement days with the practical placement partner |
* is determined by the practical placement partner in the learning agreement
The final semester is completed entirely at the enterprise as part of a practical phase (Bachelor's degree) and the writing of the thesis.
Firstly, you apply to one of our practical placement partners (step 1). You send all relevant documents, such as your transcript of records, curriculum vitae, etc., to the enterprise and go through a normal application process. Once you have reached an agreement with an enterprise about the dual study programme, you conclude a learning agreement (step 2). Finally, you apply to the university (3rd step, see below).
As a rule, enterprises start the application process early, sometimes more than a year in advance. However, as not all positions can always be filled, an application at a later stage may still be worthwhile.
Applications with a German university entrance qualification or a first degree in Germany must be submitted via the Fulda University of Applied Sciences application portal. The application period for the winter semester (Bachelor's degree and Master's degree) starts on 15 April and ends on 30 September.
