No more applications possible!
From the winter semester 2024/25, no more students will be admitted to the Bachelor's programme in e-health; expiring on 31.03.2029.
Focus on people
People are the focus of this interdisciplinary study programme, which teaches students the relevant content from computer science, electrical engineering and health science in theory and practice. In addition to a lot of basic knowledge, you can specialise your university studies in one of two specialisations: Health Care Management and Medical Devices
You are interested in health-related topics, both on an individual and social level. You want to be involved in the development of technical solutions that are used to promote health or establish technical innovation in inpatient and outpatient health care. You should enjoy interpersonal interaction and logical thinking. You do not need any previous specialised knowledge.
The study programme opens up new perspectives for employees from the health professions who want to expand their wealth of experience with technical knowledge.
The first four semesters are used to teach basic competences from the three specialist fields involved. An essential part of the programmes offered is the specialisation in a specialisation from the fifth semester onwards. Depending on the specialisation, students attend three to six specialisation lectures.
Health Care Management
- You will learn about the development and distribution of technical solutions in the health system.
- Marketing, human resources management, organisational and qualitative aspects of the health system.
Medical devices
- Are you interested in the electrical engineering aspects of university studies but also want to develop software for healthcare technology projects? Then this specialisation is for you.
- You can choose from in-depth knowledge in the fields of sensor technology, measurement and control technology, robotics and databases, web applications or mobile communication.
Shaping the future
: Technological solutions for demographic and health changeDemographic change and the population's growing health awareness will continue to contribute to further growth in the health market in the future.
In 2016, the healthcare industry in Germany had around 5.2 million employees and an annual turnover of more than 315 billion euros.
Technical innovations in the fields of diagnostics and therapy, prevention, nursing and physiotherapy are increasingly in demand. This opens up excellent career prospects(s) for our students, who are experts in these fields. The aim is to qualify students for appointments at the interface between product development and applications in the health system. In the field of software/system development, the relevant professions include requirements engineering and e-health product management. In the field of Health Care Management, this includes, for example, the representative for digitisation in healthcare facilities.
In Germany alone, there are currently 12,000 enterprises active in the field of e-health. Software development, development of technical solutions, management consultancy or a career in teaching and research are typical prospects for our graduates.
