Practical placements

Practice? Practice. Practice!

The Bachelor's degree programme in Applied Computer Science includes a compulsory internship - the practical project module. This practical project is the best way to apply theory in practice and to gain initial practical experience and contacts with potential employers.

The practical project is generally completed in a company in the software industry or in relevant departments of other companies and is supervised by a professor from the Department of Applied Computer Science and a representative of the company. The practical project should also be used to specify the topic for the final thesis.

Duration

The practical project comprises a continuous period of three months of full-time work at a practical placement. The daily working hours of the students correspond to the usual working hours of the practice site.

Time

In terms of time, the practical project is classified as the first part of the final semester. This is to be followed by the final thesis (Bachelor's thesis) as the second part. The students apply to a suitable company in the course of the previous semester and look for a professor to supervise them. Before the start of the practical project, a work plan is agreed with the company and the supervising professor. The practical project should also be used to specify the topic for the final thesis.
