Economics Student Council? What is it?

We give you a voice!

The student council of the Department of Business and Economics is your personal representation of interests and we always try to stand up for your wishes and concerns at the university. Our members are students from different degree programmes and semesters in our department.

What does the student council do?

By students - for students.

Democratically elected by you, we see ourselves as a link between you and the professors, lecturers and other university committees. In addition, we do our best to make your semesters varied.

Through events such as the Business Party or the International Barbecue, we try to offer you something in addition to your everyday student life. This also includes lectures by renowned personalities or excursions.

Representing you as students is our top priority. However, we cannot do this without your help and are therefore always happy to welcome new faces to the student council.

If you are interested in joining us, you can find us at our meetings, which take place every Wednesday at 13:30 in building 30 (M), room 017.

Of course, you can also visit us in our student council room at any time if you have any concerns.

We look forward to seeing you!

Speakers of the following committees
: FBR, Senate, StuPa, FSK
The officers of these committees attend the respective meetings and report back to the Student Council in order to discuss further procedures with them.

There are two finance officers on the Student Council who manage the student body's money, prepare calculations for Student Council activities and submit various accounts to the AStA.

EDP Officer
Two EDP officers are responsible for maintaining the two student council PCs, the printer and the homepage.

Equipment
Officer
There are two equipment officers who are responsible for keeping an overview of the student council's stock and kitchen.

Fachschaftsrat (FSR)
The Fachschaftsrat (FSR) is often just called the Fachschaft (which is not correct in principle). It represents the interests of the students in its department. The members are elected annually by the Fachschaft (all students in the department). Every registered student in the department has active and passive voting rights here. And remember: VOTING IS IMPORTANT! The FSR runs the day-to-day business with financial resources provided by the AStA. It also organises the respective party of the
department. The FSR is the basic body of the student self-governing bodies, but it is especially worthwhile to participate here because you get insider information about the department and it can simply be fun!

Student Parliament (StuPa)
The StuPa consists of up to 25 students from different departments. The exact number depends on the outcome of the university elections, which take place annually in December. The StuPa can be regarded as the legislative power in student self-administration. The StuPa presidium consists of a president and two vice-presidents. These are responsible for carrying out the work of the StuPa and chair the meetings.

The most important tasks are: - Determining the student semester fees- Election, discharge and dismissal of the AStA- Control of the student body's budget- Election of student representatives to the board of the Student Union- Decision on the student body's statutes.
You can find the Stupa's website here.

Senate
The Senate is the central body of the university. It meets in different formations depending on the task at hand. A "small senate" exists as a working body in which the professors have the majority of votes. For fundamental issues, an extended Senate is convened with a majority of three. Professors, staff and students each have a third of the votes.
The tasks of the small senate are decisions on the development of the university, the adoption of the university statutes, approval of study and examination regulations, the establishment of new faculties and comments on the structural plans of the faculties. It is chaired by the President.

Fachschaftskonfernz (FSK)
If possible, each student council (FSR) should send 2 of its members to the student council conference (FSK). The most important task of the FSK is the exchange of information between the individual departments and serving the AStA in questionable situations to obtain an opinion from the departments. Among other things, the FSK is also responsible for coordinating and planning events.
