Semester abroad

The Department of Business has a number of partnerships in Europe, North and South America, as well as some in Australia and Asia. Enrolled students can find detailed information about partner universities on the department's e-learning platform “eFBW.” As part of the semester abroad, students in the Master's program “International Management” and the Bachelor's programs “International Business Administration” and “International Business & Management” also have the opportunity to obtain a second degree abroad. Further information on this can be found in the respective degree program.

Studying abroad usually involves tuition fees. However, many partner universities offer a limited number of fee-free places or fee reductions. European partner universities also offer the possibility of monthly funding from EU Erasmus funds.

If you are interested in studying abroad within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme of the EU you can apply for the available Erasmus study places for the following winter and summer semester by 15 January each year.

Please submit your application with a CV, letter of motivation, overview of grades and proof of language proficiency to the International Office of the department. Please use the following Application form.

The selection of applicants, which is made on the basis of the submitted documents, is made by the Dean's Office of the Department of Economics. Selection criteria are: Grade point average, language skills, as well as further commitment (e.g. student council work, work as a student assistant, etc.).

You will receive an acceptance or rejection letter by the middle/end of March of the respective year.

Once you have been accepted, you will be nominated at the university abroad and will have to submit additional documents there. This includes the learning agreement. This is the agreement on your module choice at the foreign university.

In an internship abroad, you will gain professional experience as well as intercultural skills and expand your professional and social network. The internship can be completed all over the world in companies, but also in non-profit organisations with a commercial focus. It is usually remunerated. Many employers with an international orientation require experience abroad, especially internships for graduates applying for a job offer.

The internships can take place in an EU member state or in its overseas territories as well as in Turkey and the EEA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway). The place of residence and work must be in the target country for the entire internship period. In order to receive funding, there are certain general conditions that must be met.
