FAQs

For all new students, our department provides introduction days – these are scheduled onsite at our campus in Fulda.

Further information can be found under the section: Introductory weeks on our website

In case you are not able to join the introduction weeks in person, we will invite you to several online sessions, which will mainly be organized by the respective study programme directors. During these sessions, they will provide you with further information with regard to the study program and you are able to address questions of course. By attending these, you will meet your study program directors virtually and get to know the program as such. This will enable you to have a better understanding before you physically arrive in Fulda.

Also, for this reason, it is important to let us know your arrival date if you are encountering a delay in arriving, so that we know who is expected to be actually present and who will need to be sent a link to the online session.

Even if you are not present as such, lectures will start according to the university lectures schedule.

Students who are arriving somewhat later than the start of the semester, are likely to catch up on the missed lectures. In this case, this will have to be done by self-study and online classes will not be provided. However, this gap should not be too large. Out of our experience, we therefore strongly suggest, that if your arrival date is later than May 15th (summer semester) or November 15th (winter semester), that you start your lectures in the following semester.

Please note, that does not mean that you cannot come to Fulda. You can prepare yourself accordingly, make yourself familiar with our campus, your new surroundings and catch up on the missed studying materials. This would make the upcoming semester easier for you.

Important:
Please see: FAQ “Can my admission be transferred to a later semester?”

Most examinations will take place in the second half of July (summer semester) or the second half of February (winter semester) and will require your physical presence on campus.

Your admission cannot be deferred to a later semester. Thus, when receiving our letter of acceptance you need to decide whether to enrol or not to enrol. Enrolling allows you to benefit from our late arrival policy, as outlined above. If you decide not to enrol (or to disenroll), you will lose your place and you will need to reapply for a later semester. Your new application will not have any special priority in that case.

As a campus university, we strongly focus on teaching in class and we - generally speaking –  we do not provide online or hybrid lectures.

If you arriving late, please be informed that your semester fee is still to be paid in that case, since you are enrolled as a student at our university. This also applies if you are physically not able to be here.

Do you have questions regarding your admission?

The applications and admissions are centrally organized at our university. If you have any questions regarding your application or admission, please contact our “Student Administration Office”: horstl@hs-fulda.de
