Circular Economy in Action: :
Blended Intensive Programme in Finland

In addition to traditional study abroad opportunities, short-term mobilities known as Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) are gaining increasing importance. These innovative short-term mobilities combine a virtual learning phase with a one-week on-site presence and are funded by the Erasmus programme.
In the summer semester 2025, five business students had the opportunity to take part in such a BIP at the Finnish E³UDRES² partner university Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences (JAMK), focusing on the topic of the Circular Economy Management.

Impressions from our students:
Marco Maurer (Logistics Management student): “Participating in the BIP at JAMK University gave me valuable insights into the practical application of the circular economy in supply chains and business models. I learned how circular strategies such as 'Product-as-a-Service', reverse logistics, and lifecycle thinking can create both economic and ecological value. Particularly enriching was the collaboration with students from various European countries, the exploration of Finland’s sustainability approach, and the interaction with local companies committed to the circular economy. An unforgettable highlight was the traditional sauna evening followed by an ice bath in the lake – a true Finnish cultural experience!”
 

Aisha Ahmad Chauhan (International Management student): “I am very grateful for the opportunity to participate in the BIP at JAMK, as it allowed me to better understand how the circular economy works in practice. I was able to deepen my knowledge in this field through insights into real companies. We also had the chance to work in international teams and engage in cultural exchange. It was both an academic enrichment and a personal inspiration to experience sustainability in a practical way beyond the classroom.”
 

Jasmin Sukkau (International Business & Management student): “The on-site week at JAMK was an incredible learning experience. I’m especially proud of presenting a sustainable business at an investment fair. In addition to the academic content, I was able to gain authentic Finnish experiences, such as jumping into cold water straight from the sauna. I also made valuable international contacts. Overall, it was an educational and unforgettable experience!”
 

Such valuable experiences not only support the personal and academic growth of our students, but also strengthen international relationships and cooperation. By participating in such programmes, students make a significant contribution to developing a global perspective and promoting international collaboration in the future.
