New doctoral degree at the department

David Blum obtained his doctorate in restructuring, insolvency and corporate law between 2021 and mid-2025 under Judge at the Higher Regional Court Professor Dominik Skauradszun, LL.M. and successfully defended his dissertation "Preparatory phase before restructuring and insolvency proceedings" before the doctoral committee on 4 February 2026. Once again, the Department of Business Sciences at the University of Kassel cooperated with the Fulda Department of Business.

In terms of methodology, David Blum not only worked on legal doctrine, but also intensively analysed the law from an economic perspective, and also differentiated much more precisely between the individual forms of company than previous qualification theses have done at this interface. David Blum also found a convincing explanation as to when a common pool problem can be assumed and when not.
