The Zentrum verantwortungsbewusste Digitalisierung (ZEVEDI), which is supported by the Hessian Ministry for Digitisation and Innovation, has awarded a twelve-member project group from Hesse the contract for a research project on digital financial market infrastructures.
Judge at the Higher Regional Court, Professor Dominik Skauradszun, LL.M., together with colleagues from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Philipps University Marburg and Frankfurt University, will investigate the transformation of financial markets at the infrastructure level.
The focus will be on digital trading, settlement, register and custody systems as well as their legal, technical and economic basics. The aim is to analyse the functioning, security and resilience of digital market infrastructures in the interplay between the traditional financial market order and decentralised technologies in order to identify the main challenges. In particular, questions of regulation, liability, interoperability and supervision are addressed. Through the interdisciplinary combination of law, computer science, economics and social sciences, the project group aims to contribute to innovation-friendly regulation and to strengthen Frankfurt as a European centre of excellence for digital financial market infrastructures.
The funds raised will be used to fund an academic participation position at the Skauradszun professorship. This position will be filled by Jeremias Kümpel, LL.B., LL.M., M.Sc.
