Information and tools for the organisation of your university studies

Under the following links you will find short instructions on how to use the eFBW and the HORSTL, provided by our student association for business.

Introduction eFBW (English)

The e-learning platform of the Department of Business is called eFBW (based on moodle), one of the most widely used e-learning systems globally. The platform is designed to support instructors and students in the joint delivery of courses. The focus is on improving communication between instructors and students and ensuring that both instructors and students are actively involved in the learning process. You can find access to the e-learning platform of the Department of Business here.

Note: The enrolment periods for your modules are communicated via eFBW.

horstl is the online tool for the management of studies. The portal offers students the following functionalities:

  • Registration for courses (especially lab practicals) and examinations
  • Individual and up-to-date timetable
  • module database
  • examination management
  • Printout of transcripts of records
  • Nursing of contact data

You can find access to the systemhere.

In the examination regulations you will find information on

  • the expire of the university studies (standard duration of studies, compulsory and optional modules, deadlines for examinations and thesis, etc.)
  • the modules of a study programme (aim and content of a module, type of course, type of examination, number of ECTS credits, etc.)

All examination regulations can be found under university law.

A fast and reliable WLAN connection is available throughout the university. The university uses eduroam, which can be used by anyone with a valid student user identification number. Please note that WLAN is supervised as a central service by IT Support. You can find instructions for thishere.

Some of the university's services, such as the library's digital content, can only be accessed from outside via an encrypted VPN connection. You can only use VPN with a valid student user identification number. Please note that VPN is supervised as a central service by IT Support. You can find instructions for this here.

Every member of the university is provided with a free of charge e-mail address. This is linked to the student user identification number of the respective user. For security reasons, it is highly recommended that internal university communication is handled using the university e-mail address. Access to the mail system can be found here.
