Declaration on accessibility

Fulda University of Applied Sciences endeavours to make its website www.hs-fulda.de accessible in accordance with the national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The technical requirements for accessibility are derived from the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV) 2.0.

This declaration on digital accessibility applies to the website of Fulda University of Applied Sciences. The digital accessibility was checked by an external, independent service provider.

Preparation of this declaration

This accessibility statement was first created on 11 October 2021.

Status of compatibility with the requirements

This website is partially accessible. The requirements of the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV) 2.0 are partially met.

Which areas are not barrier-free?

Barrier 1: Accessibility functions not easily accessible
Description: The accessibility function "contrast view" is difficult to access and the symbol has too little contrast in standard view.

Barrier 2: Subtitles of audio files
Description: The automatically generated subtitles on external videos are not in sync with the visual material.

3rd barrier: Graphics, control elements and objects without alternative texts
Description: Only a few graphics and objects have alternative texts.

4th barrier: Audio files without alternatives
Description: Alternatives for audio files and silent videos only reproduce a small part of the content.

5th barrier: Videos without audio description and/or full text alternative
Description: Videos in which image-heavy passages occur require an alternative to the image, as the sound is not sufficient for full understanding.

6. barrier: HTML structural elements for headings
Description: Headings are present (except for search output) but incorrectly nested, sometimes only to create different font sizes and white space.

7. barrier: HTML structural elements for lists
Description: some elements that should be structured as lists are not.

8. barrier: Content structured
Description: Partially p-tags are missing and incorrect b-tags are used instead of strong-tags.

Barrier 9: Labels of forms can be determined programmatically
Description: Sometimes the labels are not linked to the input fields or boxes.

Barrier: Contrast of texts is sometimes insufficient.
Description: With the contrast view switched on, the contrast values for small fonts were sometimes below 4.5:1.

Barrier: Some texts cannot be enlarged to 200 per cent without losing content.
Description: Texts are cut off when enlarged or overlap.

12. barrier: Content does not wrap on lower resolutions or smaller formats.
Description: On smaller display versions, content protrudes over the edge or overlaps.

13. barrier: Contrast of graphics and graphic control elements is insufficient.
Description: The contrast of graphics and graphic control elements was sometimes less than 3:1. 14.

14. barrier: When increasing text spacing, not all contents are visible.
Description: When text spacing is increased, texts are cut off or they overlap.

Barrier: Some elements are not usable without the mouse
Description: Some elements (e.g. information in the contact boxes) are not usable.

16. barrier: Moving content cannot be switched off.
Description: Slideshows and advertisements cannot be paused in some cases. 17.

Barrier: Some areas cannot be skipped
Description: HTML5 elements for marking areas (header, nav, main, aside, footer) do not open up the page structure in a meaningful way, no meaningful area headings are used.

Barrier: Link texts are not always meaningful.
Description: In some cases, the link texts do not always contain all the necessary information.

19. barrier: Position of the focus is not recognisable.
Description: The keyboard focus is completely missing.

20. barrier: Words and sections in other languages are partly not marked.
Description: English words are partially not marked with the "lang" attribute.

Barrier: Partially no consistent navigation
Description: Partially it is not clear where exactly you are, because the left navigation is missing.

22. barrier: Error messages in forms partly not concrete enough
Description: In the case of error messages in forms, no information is provided about the required format of the entry. Under "Enter appointment", no extended information is sent to the screen reader, neither the information that a corresponding field is a required field, nor that it contains an error. There is only visual information.

23. barrier: The syntax of the HTML markup is partially incorrect.
Description: Partially wrong nesting in the HTML.

24. barrier: Name, role, value partially not available
Description: Partially missing roles for buttons / links (such as small green icons).

The elimination of these known deficiencies is currently being planned. As soon as this planning is completed, it will be published on this page.
