Professional activity as parish chaplain in Gelsenkirchen-Buer, Essen-Frohnhausen and Essen-Altenessen, from 1962 also district chaplain of the Christian Workers Youth (CAJ) for the city of Essen. Main areas of activity:

Youth work: CAJ, other organised youth groups, weekend seminars, partial open door, holiday camps, international youth exchange (with France and Poland)

Adult education: district-related socio-political discussion forums in cooperation with the Adult Education Centre Essen and Protestant church congregations
