Girls'Day 2026 at the Department of Electrical Engineering
27 Apr 2026
On Girls'Day 2026, 9 schoolgirls experienced a day full of exciting insights and inspiring encounters at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Fulda University of Applied Sciences!
On 23 April, the department opened its doors to 5th and 6th grade girls interested in technology, who were curious to find out what the world of electrical engineering and information technology has to offer.
Our goal: to awaken "STEM interest" and inspire young talents for technical appointments!
From 8.30 am to 12.30 pm, the students took part in a workshop related to practice entitled "3D printing - print your world!", which took place in the automation technology laboratory. They gained their first experience with CAD software and creatively designed their own small projects. The moment when they were able to observe how their designs were realised layer by layer by the 3D printers was particularly exciting.
In addition to the practical work, the participants also gained interesting insights into how 3D printing works. During a campus tour, they got to know various laboratories in the department, were able to try out many things for themselves, ask questions and gain a vivid impression of the many opportunities available in university studies.
The successful degree was rounded off with lunch together in the cafeteria, where the students were able to exchange ideas and share their impressions.
Many thanks to our dedicated colleagues Susanne Heistermann, Oxana Gerter, Beate Ruppe and Solveig Schüssler, who made this day a special experience with their great commitment and organisational talent.
The electrical engineering and information technology department is delighted with the students' great interest and was impressed by their creativity, their enthusiasm for technology and the quick realisation of their ideas.
