Topic/content

This dissertation examines the rehabilitative aftercare of patients with advanced COPD following lung volume reduction (LVR). Although rehabilitation is considered an important part of treatment, little is known about how often such offers are actually used and which factors influence access. The aim of the study is to analyse possible social, regional and structural inequalities in rehabilitation care. The study follows a mixed-methods approach and combines a prospective patient survey with qualitative interviews with patients and professionals. The doctoral project is being carried out in cooperation with the Lungenemphysemregister e. V. and includes specialised lung centres in Germany in the data collection.
