Excursion to JUMO
06 Jul 2023
As part of the course "Planning and organisation of productions and services" , 5th semester students of the industrial engineering programme had the opportunity to visit the renowned company JUMO. The excursion gave the students a deep insight into the production process of a temperature transmitter as well as the challenges of scaling productions.
In particular, the transport routes within the production represented a significant challenge, which results from the grown structures. The students learned how these logistical challenges are overcome and which planning and organisational strategies are used.
"The visit to JUMO was extremely instructive for our students. They were able to experience first-hand how the planning and organisation of productions and services works in practice," says Prof. Dr. Thies Beinke, who is responsible for the course. "Especially the scaling of productions and overcoming challenges in material flow are important aspects that play a major role in professional practice," says Michael Wiener, lecturer of the course.
The excursion to JUMO enabled the students to link theoretical knowledge with practical experience and gain insights into real production processes. Such practice-oriented excursions are an important part of the education and prepare the students optimally for their future professional activities.
