Foundation of the CeSSt

On 13 April, the Centre of Research for Society and Sustainability (CeSSt) was officially opened at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. In his welcoming speech, the President of the University of Applied Sciences Karim Khakzar emphasised the University's focus on the topic of "Society and Sustainability" and sees good development opportunities for the expansion of research competences through the new centre.

CeSSt was established as a scientific centre of the University of Applied Sciences Fulda on 1 January 2011 and goes back to the initiative of the Department of Social Work. In her short opening speech, the current spokesperson of the centre, Prof. Dr. Monika Alisch, outlined the focal points of the centre and emphasised that it is time to direct the existing research competences towards a different approach to progress and to focus on the social responsibility of an educational institution such as the university in re-evaluating the use of technology.

At the first general meeting of CeSSt following the opening, Prof. Dr Monika Alisch, Prof. Dr Kathrin Becker-Schwarze, Prof. Dr Heike Herrmann and Prof. Dr Martina Ritter were confirmed as centre directors.
