Fulda University of Applied Sciences has said goodbye to its first female graduates from the Bachelor's programme in Nursing.

On 1 August, Lea Böttcher, Chiara-Maria Hack, Nicola Rußmann and Anna Trela successfully passed their state examinations. This makes them among the pioneers who are starting their professional future as generalist qualified nurses. The Bachelor's degree nursing programme in Fulda was developed as part of the "Nursing training offensive" to counter the shortage of skilled workers and demographic challenges. The university is focusing on the academisation of the nursing profession in order to better meet future challenges in health care. The university studies combine academic research with practical skills and thus provide a sound basis for high-quality nursing. The graduates emphasised the diversity of expertise that was imparted to them during their university studies by doctors, nurses and managers. They particularly emphasised the modern skills and simulation laboratories, which enabled them to practice various nursing situations related to practice. They also appreciated the opportunity to gain additional qualifications such as basic life support or culturally sensitive nursing. With the degree of this first cohort, Fulda University of Applied Sciences has taken an important step towards the sustainable improvement of nursing quality in Hesse and beyond. From the winter semester 2024, the dual study programme for nurses will be introduced, with which the university will continue to focus on innovation and excellence in nursing training in order to meet the increasing demands in the health system.
