School staff wanted - "Digital health literacy in schools"

18 Oct 2023

In order to give sufficient consideration to your needs, we cordially invite you to participate! Test our online tools in advance or take part in a group discussion.

A study team from the Department of Health Sciences, under the direction of Prof Dr Kevin Dadaczynski, is developing digitally supported tools to facilitate your work on the topic of "Digital health literacy in the context of schools". In order to give sufficient consideration to the needs of teaching staff, we cordially invite you to participate in your role as a teacher.

Today more than ever, there is a wealth of information available on the topic of health. Internet-based sources in particular are managing to spread rapidly and become quickly available, whether in the form of social media, apps, forums or online guides. This requires the ability to orientate oneself, critically assess or even use the information in one's own everyday life.

With the Self-Check! tool, interested school staff will be able to find out in just a few clicks what their personal digital health literacy is like, where their strengths lie and in which areas they have opportunities for development. With the Orga-Check! tool, interested schools, represented by 2 to 3 teaching staff, will in future be able to find out with just a few clicks how their school's organisational digital health literacy is doing, where their strengths lie and in which areas development opportunities exist. To this end, we are looking for interested school staff to test our tools in advance for target group-specific comprehensibility, intuitive usability and other aspects.

We are also looking for interested school staff who would like to take part in a group discussion.

The aim of a group discussion is to collect and discuss the "expert knowledge" of you as a teaching staff member in small groups of around 5 to 6 people based on a few guiding questions. The aim is not to "test your knowledge", but to identify barriers and support factors for promoting (digital) health literacy in schools in a way that is related to practice. We are dependent on your experience - because no one knows the conditions and circumstances at school better than you in your role as a lecturer. What conditions need to be met for digital health literacy promotion to succeed? Does the topic even seem relevant in everyday school life? We look forward to a lively exchange and cordially invite you to join us!

The event will be held online via "video conference" on a data protection-compliant platform.

Have we aroused your interest? Then get in touch!
