Research for better practice

The Department of Health Sciences sets itself the task of gaining new knowledge for promoting the health of the population, for patient-oriented health care and for the scientific development of the non-medical health professions through application-oriented research and making it accessible to practice.
This is done through externally funded research projects, through student projects in Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes, through the assignment of final theses with practice-relevant and research-oriented questions, through cooperation with the academic teaching institutions and practice partners of the Department of Health Sciences, partly in cooperation with other universities in Germany and abroad, and through its own publication series pg-papers. The Department of Health Sciences is an active member of HessIP, the Hessian Institute for Nursing Research, which was founded in 2001 as a joint research institute of the three Hessian universities of applied sciences with nursing degree programmes. Researchers from the department are also active in the gFFZ, the Gender and Women's Research Centre of the Hessian universities.

In December 2009, the research and development project Health Promoting University of Applied Sciences Fulda was launched with the Department of Oecotrophology and was funded by the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. The guiding idea is the implementation of good
practice models and follows the setting approach, i.e. involving all groups of people at the university and including all health-relevant aspects at various levels of action.
