doctoral project
Moral communication for more sustainable nutrition. Social discourse and individual handling of moral communication for more sustainable nutrition.
Topic/content
A moral assessment of food and diets is taking place. This can be seen in everyday nutrition, for example when meat consumption requires a statement and justification. In this way, individual dietary decisions are linked to the worsening problem of climate change. Sustainability is demanded and, as a result, nutritional principles are assessed as sustainable or irresponsible. Moralistic communication is characterised by the fact that individual moments of disregard or respect, i.e. the social esteem of a person, are conveyed in the communication and a situational reference to supra-situational ideas of "good" and "evil" is established. The dissertation will analyse the influence of moral communication in the context of sustainable nutrition. A sociological discourse analysis and focus groups with representatives of different social milieus will be conducted.
