For professional qualification in the regulated professions of the health care system in Germany, societal changes associated with migration are associated with challenges in several respects. So far, however, little research has been done on what integration services and what migration- and culture-sensitive adaptation requirements exist and how this can be supported by redesigning qualification measures. This gives rise to the following questions, for example:

  • What is the significance of prospective opportunities for occupational migration for career choice decisions for or against health professions?
  • How do interactions among professionals and between professionals and those in need of care, both with and without migration experience, affect professional roles and understanding of the profession?
  • How do culturally differing perceptions of the range of activities of the health professions affect the integration process in the German labour market and what requirements for adaptive qualifications result from this?
  • To what extent does the curricular and didactic design of training in the health sector in recruitment countries differ from that in Germany and to what extent does this affect the job satisfaction of migrant workers in the health professions?

Four doctoral positions were created for three years.
