Within the framework of the mentoring programme, you will be accompanied by GÖP students from higher semesters during your first semester. In the first weeks of your studies, the mentors organise a variety of meetings with different focuses to bring you closer to the university world. The introductory courses offered by the university made it easier for me to start studying. They gave me a good overview of both the university and the degree programme. The Ersti Week also gave me the opportunity to get to know my new fellow students. I found the mentoring programme particularly helpful. The mentors' experience and tips helped me to overcome my insecurities. It was easier for me to ask questions because I was among students and the mentors could answer my questions at eye level. In addition to the question of whether the choice of degree programme was the right one, I was especially curious about whether and how I would make connections with my new fellow students. These uncertainties were all but dispelled by the Ersti Week. I was particularly enthusiastic about the mentoring programme, which is run by students to give first-year students a good start to their studies. Right from the start, there was a personal and appreciative way of dealing with each other and the meetings were uncomplicated and pleasant. That was a great help at the start of my studies.

Irina reports:"I became aware of the Health Economics and Health Policy degree programme through the YouTube videos and the university's Instagram channel, but the online introductory events also helped me decide on the degree programme. I thought the introductory week was very good! It made the start of my studies much easier and also brought the cohort closer together. I was then able to get my questions and concerns answered at the mentoring programme. The atmosphere at the meetings was really pleasant - you just felt comfortable. I found the mentors really great. With their empathetic approach and their own experiences as first-year students, they really picked me up. But they also gave me practical tips on the university's learning platforms - all in all, they were really helpful.
