Preliminary internship in the degree programme Vocational Ed

Teachers with the subject of health are employed in various vocational schools as well as in special schools of the health sector. This means that you are qualified to work with groups of learners who can aspire to very different professional activities in the health sector.

The pre-practicum should therefore give you a first insight into potential fields of work in the health sector for your future students.

If you have any questions about the pre-study internship, please contact our practice advisor.

The internship institution can be freely chosen by you and may also be located abroad.

For example, you can complete your pre-study internship in the following health care areas:

  • Nursing and functional services in a hospital
  • Social and care services in a hospital
  • nursing and social service in outpatient and inpatient care
  • non-medical therapy and medicine
  • Medical-technical assistance
  • Pharmaceutical-technical assistance
  • medical, orthopaedic and rehabilitation technology
  • general practitioners and specialists
  • Rescue and ambulance services
  • Health care administration

You must provide evidence of the professional practice, amounting to 1,500 hours, by the time you start your studies.

The internship period can be divided so that you have the chance to get to know several professions or areas of the health care system.

The pre-study internship is not required if you have completed vocational training in the health care sector or if you have completed an activity comparable to the pre-study internship, e.g. a voluntary social year in the health care sector.

If you have any questions regarding recognition, please contact our practice officer.
