Practical phases Vocational Pedagogy Health
Dear mentors,
During the Bachelor's programme, we focus on practical training in schools. For this, we need your support at the internship schools. During this time, students complete at least two school placements (SPS I & II) with comprehensive preparation and follow-up events. Thus, they gain practical teaching experience already during their studies.
Our students with the teaching subject Health are employed in various vocational schools as well as special schools in the health sector. This means that you will be qualified to work with learning groups that can aspire to very different professional activities in the health sector.
For this reason, they complete a pre-study internship before they start their studies, which gives you a first insight into potential fields of work. The students have often completed training in a health profession beforehand, but have gained at least 1500 hours of practical experience in the health sector. This includes, for example: Nursing and social services in outpatient and inpatient settings, medical-technical assistance or similar.
The Praxisreferat's main task is to advise and support prospective students and students, but also the mentors in the schools, both before the studies and during the two school internships.

The task of the school internships (practical school studies I & II) is to create a basis of experience for an in-depth examination of the educational and social science, psychological and subject didactic aspects of school and teaching during the studies. They serve to verify professional orientation and to develop pedagogical competence for the four guiding goals of German teacher education: teaching, educating, assessing and innovating.

The SPS II is subject didactically oriented and must be completed at a vocational school in Hesse in the subject area of health. The focus for the students here is in particular on the design of a teaching series in the vocational subject area of health.

As a mentor, you will accompany our students in their first and/or second practical school studies. We appreciate your commitment in supervising these 5-week internships and want to support you in this.
