Library card

You need a library card to borrow books, DVDs, CDs etc. You also need a library card if you want to use our computers and online services.

Library card for children and young adults

The library card for children and young adults aged 7 to 17 is applied for via the online form. For the registration of minors, the written consent of a parent or legal guardian and the documents mentioned below are always required.
The library card for minors under 16 years of age is only issued in the presence of a parent or legal guardian. From the age of 16, you can also collect it yourself. In both cases, the declaration of consent signed by a parent or legal guardian must be presented.
A library card for children up to the age of 12 has several restrictions, e.g. on borrowing only age appropriate items or internet access. On reaching the age of 13, the card can be replaced by a (young) adults card. On request, a new card without the restrictions of the card for children can then be issued at the service desk upon presentation of the children's library card.
Check Library card for users from the city and region for further information on the library card.
