E³UDRES²

Engaged and Entrepreneurial European University as Driver for European Smart and Sustainable Regions

E³UDRES² (Engaged and Entrepreneurial European University as Driver for European Smart and Sustainable Regions) is a European higher education alliance of small to medium-sized universities and universities of applied sciences from small to medium-sized cities or regions. (List of partner institutions). The name "E³UDRES²" is derived from this regional anchoring: "Engaged and Entrepreneurial European University as Driver for European Smart and Sustainable Regions". The alliance aims to network rural (non-urban) regions and support their development into smart, sustainable regions. The focus is on the three research and action fields "Circular Economy", "Human Contribution to Artificial Intelligence" and "Well-being and Active Ageing".

An initiative of the European Commission

European university alliances are an initiative of the European Commission. Since 2019, the European Union has supported 50 transnational alliances of institutions of higher education from the European Union, Iceland, Norway, Serbia and Turkey. The aim of the European university alliances is to strengthen the European Education and Research Area through closer transnational cooperations and the establishment of inter-university campuses. Apart from promoting European values and identity, European university alliances help boost the excellence dimension of university education, research and innovation.

E³UDRES² hosts a variety of events and activities in which students and lecturers at partner universities can actively participate. These activities take place in English. Fulda University of Applied Sciences covers travel expenses incurred in connection with the events for a limited number of persons and selected activities. Exact terms and conditions vary according to activity. Those interested in taking part can contact gizem.savran@verw.hs-fulda.de.

The E³UDRES² university alliance brings together researchers from the partner institutions in four research networks on the topics of "Health, well-being and social inclusion", "Digital solutions and innovative technologies", "Resilient economy and innovation" and "Creative industries for regional identity". You can find opportunities to get in touch with other researchers from the E³UDRES² network here:

E³UDRES² Bank of Researchers

The E³UDRES² Bank of Researchers forms the basics for the networking of researchers in E³UDRES². All researchers at Fulda University of Applied Sciences are welcome to use it.

Your advantages:

  • Increase visibility: Introduce yourself and your work to colleagues at our European partner universities
  • Build a network: See where, how and what research is being carried out in E³UDRES² and make contact with researchers from different disciplines
  • Exchange knowledge: Find experts in a wide range of knowledge areas and make your own expertise available to your fellow researchers

The database is currently still under construction, so not all functions are available yet. However, registration is already possible and will help us to expand the functionality of the database.
The database is aimed at both experienced researchers and researchers at the beginning of their career (including doctoral candidates).

By registering in the database, you consent to the processing and storage of your personal data.

Matchmaking

In order to further support collaboration between E³UDRES² partner institutions and their sponsors, a matchmaking platform has been set up in addition to the Bank of Researchers.
Here, researchers can post new initiatives for joint research projects or draw attention to existing projects, make contacts, contact potential cooperation partners and plan joint activities.

One of the aims of the university alliance E³UDRES² is to build bridges between science, education, business and innovation and create synergies. This enables students to learn from real-life problems and allows science to contribute to the development of the regions. In various formats such as hackathons or bootcamps, international teams of students and researchers look for solutions to regional problems. Businesses and regions can submit their “community challenges“ for this purpose. The E³UDRES² Entrepreneurship and Innovation Network for Smart and Sustainable European Regions (E.I.N.S) also offers various support options for start-ups.

Citizens from the regions of the E³UDRES² partner institutions have various ways to approach and interact with the university alliance. Regular “photovoice challenges” on Instagram draw attention to the changing themes. In a virtual pub quiz, participants’ own knowledge of E³UDRES² research subjects can be tested in an informal atmosphere. Citizens also have the opportunity to introduce their own ideas and concepts relating to universities of the future and smart and sustainable regions.
