About Fulda

A historic city in the heart of the country

A historic city founded in the year 744, Fulda has a population today of 65,000. Fulda‘s Baroque ­Quarter is one of the most beautiful in Germany and attracts visitors from all over the world.

Fulda enjoys ideal transport connections. One of Europe‘s principal international airports, Frankfurt Rhine-Main, is just an hour away by car or train. Other major cities in Germany, like Berlin, Munich, Cologne or Hamburg, are within easy reach and not more than three hours away by train.

Welcoming city life

The picturesque Old Town has many cafés, pubs and bars and a variety of shops and boutiques. The city's cultural life has something for everyone. The Fulda Castle Theatre regularly performs classical and modern dramas, museums offer in-depth look into the region's past and the Christmas Market draws visitors from near and far. The city is also home to several beautiful parks and gardens offering ample opportunity for relaxing walks and time spent outdoors.

Sport and outdoor activities

Fulda University offers a wide range of sports for you. Check out the semester programme and find the right course! If you have some basic German language skills you could also become part of one of the regional football teams!

Convenient campus

Fulda University has a pleasant campus with wide green spaces, where history meets modernity: some of the attractive buildings date back to the 19th century, others of ­modern architecture have been completed only recently.
