- Admission Requirements
- First degree qualifying for a profession from a higher education institution, in electrical engineering, information technology, engineering and management (specialising in electrical engineering) or in a related discipline with electrical engineering components to the same extent as e.g. computer science with a specialisation in embedded systems. Applicants must have achieved an average grade of at least 2.5 [German grading system] in their first degree; if the grade is lower, they may apply for an interview in the subject area.

What Is This Programme About?
The Embedded Systems programme aims to enable students to gain a knowledge of more in-depth methods of hardware and software design for embedded computer systems and of project handling processes. It focuses on systems that are made up of electrical engineering and software components. Students acquire theoretical knowledge in particular and expand their previously acquired practical knowledge.
At the end of the study programme you will be qualified to work as an engineer in the development and application of embedded systems, both in an industrial context and in science and research.

How is the programme structured?
The Master of Engineering in Embedded Systems is an applied study programme. The large proportion of project-based learning as an individual and in groups requires and encourages teamwork and communication, independence, creativity, openness and plurality as well as subject expertise. Students learn to quickly become acquainted with methods and systems in new technical and scientific fields.
The standard duration of studies for the Master’s programme is three semesters. Six compulsory modules that are characteristic of the programme are supplemented by options from the compulsory elective modules. In addition to courses from the range of available technical subjects, students can choose modules from the area of Engineering and Management.
The choice of projects enables students to adjust the curriculum to their individual interests and requirements. They relate closely to ongoing research projects and are mainly conducted in the university’s own laboratory. Together with the Master’s thesis, students can create their own project work worth 40 credits from the available options.
