DAAD grants and scholarships
The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) is an extremely helpful source for information and funding for international students at all academic levels and in all areas of study in Germany. For general information on DAAD scholarships and eligibility requirements, see its funding opportunities page. Make sure you browse the Scholarship Database, which also features non-DAAD opportunities.
BAföG, the German Federal Training Assistance Act, is a law that provides financial assistance for students, including some international students. If you are studying for a full degree at Fulda University, you should see whether you meet any of the following criteria for receiving BAföG funding:
- You are an international student who qualifies for asylum
- You are an international student with a parent or spouse who is a German national (which means that you have been granted permanent residence)
- You are an international student whose parents have been employed in Germany for the past three years and are still employed here
- You are an international student who has been employed in Germany for the past five years.
If you think you meet the requirements for BAföG funding, contact Gesa Pusch-Thomas, who will explain what you need to do to apply.
