Curriculum
The Pre-College programme lasts two semesters and starts once a year in October. Classes are held five days a week (Monday to Friday) between 9 am and 6 pm.
Participants complete various modules in two semesters. These include: German lessons and additional modules, study preparation, career preparation and intercultural training.
Winter semester (Oct 1 - March 31) - Career preparation
Modules:
- B2 level German lessons in preparation for the telc Deutsch B2 test, Communication courses to improve German language skills, Grammar lessons, Writing consultations
- Career orientation and application training for the German job market
- Insights into the working world through job shadowing programmes and company visits in the economic region of Fulda
- Completion of a three-week orientation placement
- Intercultural training: Introduction to the concept of culture and awareness of cultural differences, development of intercultural skills and knowledge of the country
- Digital media and communication
- Mathematics
Work to be completed:
- telc B2 test at the beginning of March
- Orientation placement certificate
- Written or oral exams, assignments or papers (depending on modules)
Summer semester (Apr 1-Sept 30) - Study preparation
Modules:
- C1 level German lessons in preparation for the DSH test, Communication courses to improve German language skills, Grammar lessons, Writing consultations
- Insights into university study through participation in regular courses and relevant assessments (Applied Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Food Technology: Mathematics, Computer Science and Technical Principles, Fundamentals of Business Administration and Accounting, Health and Health Care Provision in Germany, Current Issues in the Social Sciences, Cultural Interaction, Politics and International Studies), supported by "buddies"
- Introduction to the German system of study
- Learning the techniques of academic research
- Intercultural training: Introduction to the concept of culture and awareness of cultural differences, development of intercultural skills and knowledge of the country
Work to be completed:
- DSH test at the beginning of August
- Examinations in specialist courses
- Written or oral exams, assignments or papers (depending on modules)
