Curriculum

The Pre-College programme lasts two semesters and starts once a year in the winter semester (October). Classes are held five days a week (Monday to Friday) from 9.00 to 16.00.

Important: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pre-College classes in the summer semester 2021 will also take place remotely. Participation requires a reliable internet connection with a computer or laptop with microphone and camera (mobile phones and tablets are not suitable).

Participants complete various modules in two semesters. These include: German lessons and additional modules, study preparation, career preparation and intercultural training.

    Winter semester (Oct 1 - March 31) - Career preparation

    Modules:

    • B2 level German lessons in preparation for the telc Deutsch B2 test
    • Debating sessions to improve German language skills
    • Career orientation and application training for the German job market
    • Insights into the working world through job shadowing programmes and company visits in the economic region of Fulda
    • Completion of a three-week orientation placement
    • Intercultural training: Introduction to the concept of culture and awareness of cultural differences, development of intercultural skills and knowledge of the country
    • Digital media and communication

    Work to be completed:

    • telc B2 test at the beginning of March
    • Orientation placement certificate
    • Assignments and papers depending on modules

    Summer semester (Apr 1-Sept 30) - Study preparation

    Modules:

    • C1 level German lessons in preparation for the telc Deutsch C1 test
    • Debating sessions to improve German language skills
    • Insights into university study through participation in regular courses and relevant assessments (Applied Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Food Technology: Mathematics, Computer Science and Technical Principles, Fundamentals of Business Administration and Accounting, Health and Health Care Provision in Germany, Current Issues in the Social Sciences, Cultural Interaction, Politics and International Studies), supported by "buddies"
    • Introduction to the German system of study
    • Learning the techniques of academic research
    • Intercultural training: Introduction to the concept of culture and awareness of cultural differences, development of intercultural skills and knowledge of the country

    Work to be completed:

    • telc C1 test at the beginning of August
    • Examinations in specialist courses
    • Assignments and papers depending on modules
