Requirements

In order to be able to study successfully at a foreign university, you should have a command of the language of instruction at the host university at the B2 level by the time you leave the country at the latest. Many of our partner universities require this proof of language proficiency at the time of your application. Please check the language requirements of your host university in good time or come to our International Office - we will be happy to advise you.

Language courses

Find out in good time about the language courses offered by the Language Centre at Fulda University of Applied Sciences.

Intercultural Training

Every semester (May/November), the International Office offers free intercultural training in preparation for your semester abroad. This is a face-to-face seminar in English with a duration of 12 units. If you are interested, already nominated Erasmus students can register with the Erasmus coordinator in the International Office.

Students and doctoral candidates with fewer opportunities

Inclusion and equal opportunities for potential funding recipients is a central concern in the Erasmus programme. For students and doctoral candidates with fewer opportunities, there is the possibility of receiving additional funding (Top-Up) for a semester abroad.

Equal treatment and equal opportunities
By signing the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), each higher education institution commits itself to granting equal access and equivalent opportunities to all funded students. Participants with fewer opportunities include students belonging to one of the following four groups:

Students with child(ren)

If you are taking at least one child with you throughout your stay abroad, you can receive a top-up of €250 per month, regardless of the number of children you are taking with you. Please submit the child's birth certificate and travel documents.

First-time academics (students from a non-academic home)

If both your parents do not have a university degree, you can receive a top-up of €250 per month. You will need to complete and sign the self-declaration form provided by the International Office.

Working students

If you have been working regularly for six months prior to the start of your mobility and your gross monthly income is more than € 450 and less than € 850 and if you have a contractual relationship that is subject to social security contributions (at least pension insurance), you can receive a top-up of € 250 per month. Students in dual study programmes are exempt from this regulation.

Participants with a disability or a chronic illness

Students with a proven degree of disability (GdB) of at least 20 or a chronic illness with additional financial needs abroad can apply for a real costs grant and receive a maximum additional grant of €15,000 per semester in addition to the regular Erasmus mobility grant for study or work placement stays. In order to claim an additional need, please contact the International Office, which will prepare the real cost application with you and then submit it to the NA DAAD.
Students with a degree of disability (GdB) of at least 20 will receive a top-up of 250 € per month upon presentation of their severely disabled ID card or notification from the Landessozialamt (State Social Welfare Office) without having to submit an application.

When preparing your Erasmus stay, please inform us about your situation and estimate the additional costs you are likely to incur during your Erasmus+ mobility or in the host country.

General information can be found on the website of the NA DAAD.

The toolkit was developed by students for students and contains tips and advice to support your preparation for an Erasmus+ stay.
