Selection criteria

A selection committee composed of equal numbers of representatives from the departments and the International Office decides on the awarding of the scholarships.

The following selection criteria are taken into account when selecting scholarship holders:

  • academic performance
  • Necessary language skills
  • meaningfulness of the stay
  • Non-academic commitment

If the number of applications for PROMOS scholarships is too high, the International Office reserves the right to support scholarship holders only with a partial scholarship or a travel allowance.

Important note: Recipients of Auslands-BAföG cannot receive a travel allowance from PROMOS, as the Auslands-BAföG funding already includes a travel allowance.
