Are you an international student looking for a buddy to help you arrive and discover the campus?
What is the Buddy Programme?
The Buddy Programme offers new international students ("Incoming Buddies") the opportunity to build friendships with experienced students ("Experienced Buddies").
The Experienced Buddies can support the Incoming Buddies during their first weeks in Fulda. Both can undertake activities together, such as practising German, getting to know life in Germany, exploring the campus, etc. Of course, you can also take part in the events and excursions we organise!
The programme is voluntary and free of charge for both Incoming and Experienced Buddies. Matching is based on common interests and preferences that you have indicated in your application form, as well as availability in the application pool.
Please note that Experienced Buddies must be at least in their 2nd semester and speak German at level B1!

Your buddy will help you settle in and answer questions about living and studying in Fulda. For example, they will explain to you how university studies are organised in your department and give you tips on where to find support and advisory services. Important information is only part of the support. Your buddy will also be there to help you when it comes to German culture, leisure activities and making friends in Germany. Many Fulda buddies have studied abroad. They know how you feel in a foreign environment and what problems you will encounter. Some come from other countries themselves and know the situation you find yourself in.
You and your buddy decide for yourselves how much time you spend together. Perhaps you only meet in the cafeteria from time to time or you visit each other regularly and do things together in your free time. During the semester, the International Office invites you to various activities where you can get to know other international students and their buddies from Fulda.
Possible activities with your buddy:
1. Attend a lecture together
2. Attend a course organised by the city of Fulda/ a club or other organisation together
3.Do sport together (hiking, swimming, football, table tennis etc.)
4. Celebrate a German or international holiday together
5.Take a walk through Fulda and take a picture at the cathedral/city palace/castle park
6. Watch a film together
7. Go on an excursion with the semester ticket
8.Cook/bake something together
9. Go for a walk/meet up together and have a coffee/tea to go (or whatever else you like)
10. Have a games evening
