Vierer-PASCH

Support initiative for German schools abroad and partner schools (BIDS)

The "Vierer-PASCH" project provides targeted information, preparation, funding and support for PASCH school graduates from Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Colombia at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. The project is supported with funds from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as part of the German Schools Abroad and Partner Schools Support Initiative (BIDS) 2026-2028.

The selected schools are part of the "Schools: Partners for the Future" (PASCH) initiative launched by the Federal Foreign Office in 2008, in which the DAAD, the Central Agency for Schools Abroad, the Goethe-Institut and the Educational Exchange Service of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs are involved.
The DAAD project website states the following about the basic programme objectives of the BIDS project: "BIDS is intended to contribute to the fact that graduates of PASCH schools are more likely to opt for and successfully complete undergraduate university studies in Germany."

The number of PASCH schools in Central and South America is very large. The interest in Germany and the willingness to learn German are extremely strong. The programmes offered and the high level of practical relevance of Fulda University of Applied Sciences are a great fit with the study interests of Latin American PASCH school graduates.

Project measures and offers

Over the course of the entire project duration, a series of (virtual) information sessions are planned for prospective students, their parents, principals and teaching staff from PASCH-schools and stakeholders from the ZfA, the Goethe Institutes and the DAAD. The chosen format, virtual or face-to-face, will depend on the following factors, among others: Resource requirements, sustainability, global (health) policy developments, school year timetables, application deadlines, semester dates, examinations dates, etc. If you are interested, information events can be arranged, of course also tailored to your specific needs. Just get in touch with me!

When it comes to getting to know a university and its offers as well as the city and region, there is probably no better way than a personal visit. However, due to the distance, personal visits are often associated with a considerable expenditure of resources and emissions.
Nevertheless, as part of its Vierer-PASCH project, Fulda University of Applied Sciences does not want to do without these visits altogether and is therefore planning to use trips and visits by PASCH-students and teaching staff that are already taking place, while at the same time reducing costs and emissions. For example, representatives of the target group come to Germany every year for youth camps organised by the Goethe Institutes, the PAD prizewinner programme, German language competitions and with groups of international exchange students from local schools. I would be happy to organise corresponding visit programmes for interested groups. I look forward to your enquiry.

With the aim of establishing a personal bond and close supervision, a series of courses are planned for the PASCH-alumni among the new students at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. A welcome event and orientation week, a field trip to the region each semester and a summer party are to be organised every year to get to know the project staff, other students and PASCH-alumni from higher semesters, as well as to get to know the wide range of (support) offers in the university, city and region.

Furthermore, PASCH-alumni are invited to integrate into existing offers such as the International Evening, the Language & Culture Evenings and the Fulda University of Applied Sciences' Buddy Programme, which is already in place. In order to organise the introductory stage in the best possible way, support and continuous supervision and guidance is provided by the International Office (regarding application, visa, accommodation, scholarships) and a student assistant as a direct supervisor.

To support students in meeting the study requirements and improving their academic success, eight scholarships of €500.00 per month will be awarded from the winter semester 2026/27 on to participants in the Pre-College Fulda programme and Bachelor´s students in their first academic year, who have come to Fulda University of Applied Sciences from PASCH schools.
