15 years of study preparation

Pre-Study Fulda - the preparatory programme for international students - celebrated its 15th anniversary in the anniversary year of Fulda University of Applied Sciences 2024. Initiated in 2009 as a pioneering innovation project at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, it has since developed into an established program with model character beyond the borders of the state of Hesse.
To celebrate the anniversary, all former participants and lecturers as well as all interested parties from inside and outside the university were invited to a ceremony on Saturday, 2 November.

Pre-Study includes German courses at all levels, (subject) bridge courses in the chosen study programme, "Living & Studying in Germany" and "Introduction to methods and techniques of academic research".

Participants from all continents
Every semester, we welcome around 45 international applicants to our pre-study programme. With up to 30 hours per week, the program is very demanding and thus aligned with regular university studies. German course modules such as "Introduction to German politics, history and society" and "How do I apply for a job?" are also an integral part of the programme.

Statistics on the pre-study programme show that there have been around 815 graduates from all continents on this preparatory semester so far: Africa, North and South America, Asia and Europe. Many came from Cameroon, India, Ukraine, Turkey and Syria.

"Pre-Study Fulda" was the inspiration for the development of the "Pre-Study for Refugees" and "Pre-College Fulda" programs and has been an integral part of the DAAD-funded "FiT-Förderung internationaler Talente zur Integration in Studium und Arbeitsmarkt" program since 2024.
