Improve your language skills
During Pre-College, you will improve your German language skills to the required level C1/DSH-2.
Would you like to study or learn a profession in Germany, but do not yet fulfil all the conditions? No problem!
In the preparatory year Pre-College Fulda, you will acquire a direct university entrance qualification for Fulda University of Applied Sciences, just like in a ’Studienkolleg’, and also make professional contacts in our region of Fulda and East Hesse at an early stage.
The Pre-College is the right place for you if you
The Fulda Pre-College programme is the right choice for you if you hold a university entrance qualification valid only in your home country and would otherwise have to attend a ‘Studienkolleg’ or an assessment test in Germany. The Pre-College programme prepares you for your Bachelor's degree at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, meaning you will no longer need to attend a ‘Studienkolleg’.
In the Pre-College you attend the following compulsory modules:
At the end of the 1st semester, you will take the telc B2 German language exam, and at the end of the 2nd semester, the DSH exam. You must successfully complete these exams.
In addition, you must regularly complete homework assignments, successfully pass performance reviews in all modules and provide evidence of an orientation internship in Fulda.
If you hold an indirect university entrance qualification and successfully complete the Pre-College Fulda foundation year, you will gain direct entry to Fulda University of Applied Sciences. You will then no longer need to attend a ‘Studienkolleg’, but can enrol directly at our university for a bachelor’s degree programme with no admission restrictions.
To take part in the Fulda Pre-College foundation year, you pay a one-off fee of €1,950 – this covers tuition and examination fees, as well as the textbooks for German lessons.
As a Pre-College participant, you are officially enrolled at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, so you must also pay the so-called ‘semester fee’ once per semester. You can find out how much this is and what it covers on the semester fee webpage.
Fulda University of Applied Sciences has set itself the goal of ensuring that as many women and men as possible have the opportunity to qualify for a degree course or vocational training through the Pre-College Fulda preparatory year. For this reason, women may be exempted from the Pre-College participation fees in justified cases.
You can apply for the Pre-College Fulda programme via uni-assist between 1 April and 15 July. To complete your application, you will need the following documents:
• A German language certificate recognised by us: Goethe Certificate B1, telc German B1 (not DTZ telc B1), German Language Diploma of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs Level 2 (DSD II) or Austrian Language Diploma German B1 (ÖSD)
• Curriculum vitae in tabular form
• School leaving certificate with an overview of subjects and grades in the original language and as a translation into German or English
Copy of passport (if available: residence permit for Germany)
Once you have paid the enrolment fees for the Pre-College Fulda foundation year and the semester fee, we will send you a certificate of admission. This certificate contains all the information the embassies need to process your visa application.
Fulda University of Applied Sciences is not involved in dealing with your embassy.
Fulda University of Applied Sciences has set itself the goal of giving as many women and men as possible the opportunity to qualify for university studies or professional training with the Pre-College Fulda preparatory year. For this reason, women can be released from the Pre-College fees in justified cases.
