Many people with family, personal, regional, or religious ties to Israel and Palestine remain deeply concerned about developments in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the consequences for civil society in the region. Added to this is a lack of empathy and a lack of response from mainstream German society—both to October 7 and to the war that followed—as well as a rise in Israel-related antisemitism and anti-Palestinian racism. In this workshop, we will use current examples to examine how Israel-related antisemitism and anti-Palestinian racism or anti-Muslim racism manifest themselves and how those affected in Germany have fared since October 7, 2023. The workshop will highlight current examples and demonstrate how these dynamics play out—with space for discussion and reflection.
