Fulda University of Applied Sciences is once again participating in the nationwide Deutschlandstipendium program this year. 27 regional partners are supporting students at Fulda University of Applied Sciences: a total of 30 talented and committed students have been awarded a scholarship for the funding period from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026.

The selection failed in favour of outstanding students from Fulda University of Applied Sciences who have demonstrated both high academic achievements and social commitment. A total of around 580 students applied for a Deutschlandstipendium scholarship. For the scholarship holders, this means 300 euros per month over the course of a year - half of which is funded by private sponsors and half by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space. Thanks to the dedicated support of regional partners and a successful crowdfunding campaign by the "Freunde und Förderer der Fulda University of Applied Sciences" (Friends and Sponsors of Fulda University of Applied Sciences) association, the number of scholarships was increased by three to 30 compared to the previous year - the highest number to date.

At the official award ceremony for the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship, the recipients received their official certificates and had the opportunity to meet and socialise with their sponsors. "Once again, we are delighted to be able to award a Deutschlandstipendium to students at Fulda University of Applied Sciences with the support of many sponsors," said University President Prof Dr Karim Khakzar, adding: "The scholarship holders can concentrate on their university studies and in many cases also establish valuable contacts with the supporting facilities, which benefits both sides."

More than 330 students supported so far
In his dual role as Vice-President for Learning and Teaching and Teaching and Digitisation and as Chairman of the "Friends of the Department of Applied Computer Sciences at Fulda University" association, Prof. Dr Jörg Kreiker was particularly pleased: "As Chairman of the association, I have been active in the role of sponsor for some time, but tonight is the first time I have also been a member of the Presidential Board responsible for scholarships. It's great that we were able to increase the number of scholarships once again." The Vice President for Research and Transfer, Prof. Dr Martina Ritter, sees the Germany Scholarships as strengthening relations between the university and the region: "These cooperations are particularly valuable for our transfer tasks and activities. Our contacts with enterprises, associations and facilities are intensified and we can advance topics together."

The Deutschlandstipendium funding programme at Fulda University of Applied Sciences is now in its 14th year. In the meantime, more than 330 students have been sponsored with a total of around 1.2 million euros. On behalf of all scholarship holders in 2025/26, Emily Vedder from the Department of Health Science thanked them yesterday at the award ceremony and emphasised in her speech: "The Deutschlandstipendium is much more than just financial support. It is a sign of trust. It shows that commitment is recognised and that young people and their ideas are taken seriously." The scholarship has a particular strength: "It not only supports, but also connects. Becoming part of this unique network gives us the courage to keep going and take responsibility where it is most important to us."

In his speech at the award ceremony, Torsten Hopf from VR Bank Fulda emphasised the great benefits of the Deutschlandstipendium from the sponsors' perspective and stressed: "As a regional cooperative bank, we have been supporting the Deutschlandstipendium for years because it not only gives young talents financial freedom, but above all direct access to a strong network in our region. Together with the state, enterprises and private sponsors, we invest in performance, commitment and personality - and thus create precisely the connections that retain skilled workers in our region and sustainably strengthen the future of Eastern Hesse."
