Research project at the AMA Global
Conference presented in Nice

02 Jun 2026

Prof Dr Sebastian Oetzel presented the research project "Do Digital Voices Matter? Online Reviews versus Surveys as Drivers of Retail Performance" at the 2026 AMA Global Conference in Nice. The conference took place from 27 to 29 May 2026 and was themed "Redefining Global Marketing through Innovation, Sustainability, and Societal Value".

The contribution was presented in the session "Global Retailing, E-Commerce, and Supply Chain Research". The focus was on the question of how digital customer voices and traditional customer satisfaction surveys can contribute to the statement of retail performance.

The discussion at the conference showed in particular the connectivity of the project to questions of global marketing: How comparable are digital customer voices across countries, cultures and retail formats? And what role can publicly visible online reviews play in the management of retail companies in different markets?

The project thus provides a basis for further research into the international comparability of customer satisfaction, digital feedback data and retail performance.
