Kick-off to the 2026 semester of FahrRad
29 May 2026
The FahrRad semester starts again in 2026 with offers relating to cycling, health, climate protection and sustainable mobility. The campaign is organised by the Sustainability Office and University Sports at Fulda University of Applied Sciences.
Our campaign stand with various partners kicked things off on 5 May. Together with the health insurance provider Techniker Krankenkasse, University Sports and the Sustainability Office provided information about sports, exercise and health programmes as well as sustainable mobility and climate protection at the university. The focus was also on STADTRADELN 2026, where members of the university can join Team Fulda University of Applied Sciences, collect kilometres and show together how much climate-friendly mobility the university is doing.
The direct exchange with the city and district was particularly valuable this year. Stephan Fehrenbach, mobility manager for sharing, cycling and walking at the city of Fulda, and Christian Hillenbrand, local mobility coordinator at the district of Fulda, answered questions about cycling in Fulda and the region. Interested parties were able to find out about cycling infrastructure, Fulda-Bike, STADTRADELN and the Hessen cycle route planner, among other things.
Practical support was also available directly on site at the repair station of the AWO bicycle workshop. Here, minor defects on the bike could be easily repaired - a helpful service to start the cycling season safely and comfortably. The repair and service itself was free of charge; spare parts - if required for the repair - were charged at cost price.
Another offer at the stand was a free of charge bike fitting from TK. Anyone who registered in advance could have their own bike ergonomically adjusted to improve their riding position and comfort.
On 6 May 2026, the program was supplemented by the Climate Activity Check, which was offered jointly with TK. Participants were able to interactively record and evaluate their exercise behaviour in their everyday life, profession and leisure time. In addition to the effects on health, the cardiovascular system and metabolism, the programme also revealed the potential CO₂ savings that can be made by walking or cycling instead of driving. An individual advisory service provided specific recommendations on how to combine exercise, health and climate protection in everyday life.
Watch out! STADTRADELN 2026 is running until 6 June and all members of the university are invited to join the "Fulda University of Applied Sciences" team and collect kilometres. Whether on the way to university, to the shops or in your free time, every kilometre counts. Together, we want to form as large a team as possible, collect as many kilometres as possible and set a strong example for cycling, climate protection and quality of life.
Take part in CITY CYCLING 2026 and cycle for the "Fulda University of Applied Sciences" team. We look forward to many kilometres together!
