07 May 2026
In addition to the management of studies, the resources of the rooms and the library as well as very good supervision by the instructors were assessed as the best in the supervised study programmes.
FULDA University of Applied Sciences (Fulda) has achieved top assessments in this year's university ranking by the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) and the weekly newspaper "Die Zeit". In addition to an above-average level of student satisfaction, particularly with the management of studies, Fulda University of Applied Sciences scored particularly well in the categories "Support at the first-year students" and "Contact with professional practice".
The assessments by students are almost entirely in the top range (at least 4 out of 5 stars). The Bachelor's degrees in Business IT (Department of Applied Computer Science), Engineering and Management (Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology) and Social Law (Department of Social and Cultural Sciences) scored particularly well (consistently at least 4 out of 5 stars). The study programmes in the field of social work (Department of Social Work) and business administration (Department of Business) also achieved very good results in almost all criteria assessed by the students - for the fourth time in a row.
In addition to the management of studies (4.5 out of 5 stars), the resources of the rooms and the library as well as very good supervision by the instructors were assessed as the best in the supervised study programmes. The aspects "support at the beginning of studies" and "contact with professional practice" landed in the top range in all assessed subjects, and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (ET) even achieved the maximum number of points for practice-related contacts - improvements are thus visible compared to the last assessment of these subjects in 2023.
High proportion of doctoral degrees completed
Prof. Dr Jörg Kreiker, Vice-President for Learning and Teaching and Digitisation at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, emphasises: "We are delighted that our students at Fulda University of Applied Sciences are once again very satisfied. The above-average assessments of the spatial and technical equipment as well as the student support signal that we are setting the right specialisations as a university of applied research. The fact that we were even able to improve once again in terms of practical orientation shows that our efforts to network in the region and expand dual study programmes are successful. We want to continue in this direction in the future."
The situation is similar in the Department of Social Work (SW) at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. With its Bachelor's degree programmes in Social Work and Social Security & Social Administration, the department is able to maintain its good positions in the CHE Ranking's student ratings at a high level (top group in most categories, i.e. 4 out of 5 stars). The subject of social work at Fulda University of Applied Sciences also boasts a particularly high proportion of doctoral degrees completed and degrees awarded within a reasonable period of time.
In a comparison of universities, the Fulda University of Applied Sciences also performs excellently - once again in terms of the resources of rooms and the library. Students on the Bachelor's degrees in international business administration, international business and management and logistics management from the Department of Business (W) also see Fulda University of Applied Sciences as an excellent place to study and therefore award particularly good assessments in this category - Fulda University of Applied Sciences is half a star above the average for all universities in Germany. In addition, the business administration study programmes in Department W score very well in terms of their international orientation. The subject of economic law also scores well with particularly good support at the beginning of the programme and a high degree of integration with practical experience in the dual study programme, which is reflected in an above-average rate of degrees within a reasonable period of time.
University President Prof. Dr Karim Khakzar summarises: "The results of the CHE ranking are a guide for us. We are delighted that students already appreciate our modern campus so much. The top results in the area of student support also show that our efforts in terms of preliminary courses, tutorials, induction events and counselling services are well received. We are also offering more and more variations of the study programmes in order to meet the needs of the students." At Fulda University of Applied Sciences, for example, there are fast-track degree programmes in the ET department (standard duration of studies 7 or 9 semesters), dual and international programmes offered, blended learning models and integrated training programmes.
