An important part of Nutritional, Food and Consumer Sciences is microbiology, in particular food microbiology and food and environmental hygiene.
The microbiological laboratory works on
- assessing and ensuring the microbiological quality of foodstuffs
- Hygiene measures in food processing and communal catering
- the effect of bioactive substances on microorganisms
