Development of a concept for monitoring nutrition in day-care centres and schools (KoModE)
ln the course of the Federal Government's quality campaign for school and day-care meals, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture established a National Quality Centre for Nutrition in Day-care Centres and Schools (NQZ) in 2016.
One of the NQZ's tasks is to further develop quality standards and concepts for quality certificates. The aim of this research project is to develop a reference framework which, in the sense of a public health approach, places daycare and school catering in Germany more strongly in the context of prevention and health promotion.
According to the current working hypothesis, this reference framework should explicitly take into account the dimensions of health, social, environmental, economic and cultural aspects of sustainable nutrition. In addition, it is based on a new understanding of quality.
The six-month research project is being carried out in cooperation with the Chair of Public Health Nutrition at the University of Paderborn.
