No! We offer workshops in German and English, the workshop language is indicated both in the workshop description and in Horstl. When making an appointment for an advisory service, simply indicate if you would like to be advised in English. We will also be happy to advise you in English if required.
The promotion of self-study is aimed at all enrolled Bachelor’s and Master’s students at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. The offer is currently not available to participants in the pre-study programmes or PhD students; this applies to both the workshops and the counselling services. The facilities in the Self-Study Centre are, of course, available to everyone.
All offers of the promotion of self-study are free of charge for students of the Fulda University of Applied Sciences. This means that an advisory service in the language workshop or methods workshop is free of charge for you and only costs your time, if at all ;-)
Registration via horstl (course number HS1012S1) is required for the Long Night of Learning, otherwise attendance is not possible. The number of seats in the HLSB is limited, therefore safe attendance is only possible with registration.
In principle, students from all departments and study programmes can become learning scouts in any semester.
Depending on the specialisation, the following is expected:
All learning scouts are specifically qualified for their work through workshops. Regardless of the specialisation, all also complete the 2-day basic qualification "Tutorial work". This is a condition for a contract as a SHK in the promotion of self-study.
Registration for the workshops is only possible via horstl.
For binding registration, go directly to horstl and then via Schedule of lectures -> Inter-university offers -> Learning and Teaching services -> Promotion of self-study ->
There you will also receive a confirmation of registration and further information about the workshop, such as room and time.
All offers of the promotion of self-study are free of charge for students of Fulda University of Applied Sciences. Registration for workshops is free of charge for you and you do not have to leave a deposit or anything similar when registering. However, as the workshops cost us money and time resources, we want all workshop places to be used optimally, so we would like to ask you to deregister if you are unable to attend at short notice. You can easily deregister via Horstl or send us an email to lernen(at)hs-fulda.de with the subject "Workshop cancellation".
A minimum number of participants is specified for each workshop in Horstl; if this is met 24 hours before the workshop starts, the workshop will take place. If the workshop is cancelled due to the assistant falling ill at short notice, the course in Horstl will be cancelled and you will receive an email via the system.
All workshops must be registered and deregistered via horstl. Registration via horstl is also required for the Long Night of Learning, otherwise attendance is not possible.
No, workshop registration is only possible via horstl.
The workshop "Learning strategies and how I can use them for my university studies (HS1003WS1)" is usually the condition for the workshops in the area of learning. The respective workshop description will tell you exactly which learning strategies you will specialise in during the workshop.
If no date of the workshop "Learning strategies and how can I use them for my university studies (HS1003WS1)" suits you: You can find dates both in horstl and in our diary. Alternatively, you can simply drop by for a learning counselling session during our office hours.
Yes, you can receive a certificate of attendance for your participation. The easiest way to do this is to collect your workshops on a routing slip:
Unfortunately, it is not possible to check directly "live" whether the room is currently free. However, you can check in horstl whether the room is reserved for fixed dates (e.g. language workshops or workshops).
If no reservation is entered, the room can be used for learning in groups. In this case - as in the study carrel and group area - first come, first serve applies.
The materials that are lent out at the counter in the Self-Study Centre should be returned by 17:30 on the day of the award if possible, if this is not possible then please return them by 12:00 the following day. Items that fit in our letterbox next to the counter can also be handed in there. Items that are only placed behind the counter when no one is there do not count as returned, especially if they are stolen, as we cannot check this.
Yes, there is a printer in the Self-Study Centre that can be used via "Print2Follow". You can find out exactly how this works on the IT Support pages.
You do not need to register for a learning consultation, but simply drop by during our consultation hours, which are Monday to Saturday 9:00 to 12:00 and 12:30 to 17:30 during the lecture period, ending 30 minutes earlier on Saturday, when the Self-Study Centre is already closed. Consultation hours may vary during the lecture-free period. You are also welcome to send us an email if you would like to arrange a study counselling session, simply send an email to lernen(at)hs-fulda.de.
Yes, we offer various workshops in which you learn time management methods. The workshops usually do not have time management in the title, but in the description.
Workshops with time management topics include Organising instead of restructuring - Plan your semester for success (HS1003WS2, German), End of semester spurt - It's not too late (HS1003WS4, German) and Time management (HS1004WS3, English).
If you are grading time management methods for writing, have a look at the workshops in the Writing section, where the term project management is often used.
You will find many helpful answers to your questions for the writing lab on this page, the questions are divided into the following sections:
